The regional workshop for partner countries of the Belgian CHM took place in Niger (December 2021)

The regional francophone workshop for the Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) of partner countries of the Belgian CHM, was held between 13 and 17 December 2021 in Niamey, Niger.

CHM focal points and experts from Niger (host), Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DR Congo, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Morocco and Togo participated in this meeting.

CEBioS was represented in Niamey by its coordinator, Luc Janssens de Bisthoven, and the Belgian National CHM Focal Point, Han de Koeijer, who participated, together with Morocco, online. The workshop was animated with presentations of the national CHM activities, as well as working sessions in small groups about the expectations for the future.

The BIOFIN program was presented, as well as several sessions about the biodiversity governance related to the Global Biodiversity Framework post 2020 of the Convention on Biological diversity, and CEBioS sub programmes such as the Global Taxonomy Initiative and the Monitoring-Reporting-Verification framework. The migration of the actual CMS towards the new CMS ‘Bioland’ was also discussed.
