Double atelier de CEBioS au Bénin

En janvier 2026, le programme CEBioS, en collaboration avec l’Université de Parakou, a organisé deux grands ateliers de formation à Grand Popo (Bénin) dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre de la Convention sur la diversité biologique (CBD).

Du 19 au 23 janvier, un atelier consacré aux projets « Indicateurs pour les politiques » (IP) a réuni 26 scientifiques, gestionnaires de la biodiversité, décideurs politiques et points focaux nationaux de la CDB du Bénin, du Burundi et de la RDC afin de renforcer les capacités en matière d’élaboration d’indicateurs de biodiversité pertinents pour les politiques. Les thèmes abordés comprenaient les espèces exotiques envahissantes, la viande de brousse et la télédétection appliquée à la liste rouge des écosystèmes et à la surveillance des zones dégradées.

Du 21 au 23 janvier, un deuxième atelier a réuni les partenaires francophones du CHM belge, rassemblant les points focaux nationaux du CHM de huit pays partenaires (Bénin, Togo, Guinée, Guinée Bissau, RDC, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire) ainsi qu’un invité spécial: le Sénégal pour le Centre Technique et Scientifique (TSC Center) de la sous région de l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Ceci afin d’échanger sur les CHM nationaux, les appels de CEBioS leur étant adressés et sur les progrès de la coopération technique et scientifique dans le cadre de la Convention sur la diversité biologique.
L’événement a été cloturé par M. Sévérin NSIA, Conseiller Technique au suivi des Réformes (CTR) au ministère du cadre de vie, l’université de Parakou, CEBioS et Mme. Sandrine Platteau, l’ambassadrice de Belgique près du Bénin.

🌍 In January 2026, the CEBioS programme, in collaboration with the University of Parakou, organised two major training workshops in Grand Popo (Benin) as part of the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).

From 19 to 23 January, a workshop on ‘Indicators for Policy’ (IP) projects brought together 26 scientists, biodiversity managers, policy makers and national CBD focal points from Benin, Burundi and the DRC to build capacity in developing policy-relevant biodiversity indicators. Topics covered included invasive alien species, bushmeat and remote sensing applied to the Red List of ecosystems and the monitoring of degraded areas.

From 21 to 23 January, a second workshop brought together the French-speaking partners of the Belgian CHM, bringing together the national focal points of the CHM from eight partner countries (Benin, Togo, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, DRC, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire) as well as a special guest: Senegal for the Technical and Scientific Centre (TSC Centre) of the West African sub-region. The aim was to discuss national CHMs, CEBioS calls addressed to them and progress in technical and scientific cooperation under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The event was closed by Mr. Sévérin NSIA, Technical Advisor for Reform Monitoring (CTR) at the Ministry of Living Environment, the University of Parakou, CEBioS and Ms. Sandrine Platteau, Belgian Ambassador to Benin.
